McBusted!
Inevitably, McDonald’s Corporation would have got word of my highly illegitimate typeface McLawsuit. Two full years later, they finally found me. McDonald’s, through the law firm of Altheimer & Gray, have sent me a Cease & Desist order to remove the McLawsuit fonts and imagery from my Web site.

I’m going to comply with McDonald’s. I know that the “Golden Arches” are their property, and while I did make this font in jest, it was more of a tribute to the solidity and ubitquity of the McDonald’s logo. I like the logo, and I’ll respect it by taking down the fonts. …Even if it did get me a mention in Adbusters.
By the way, I am not “selling out” to McDonald’s. No money was exchanged from any of this, and McD’s is not currently suing me, so there’s no cause for concern. Also, I don’t particuarly have any animosity towards the company, despite all that “symbol-of-American-excess, world-dominating, murdering corporate-enitity” painting by bleeding-heart “agit-prop” activists — McDonald’s just another corporation, albeit a highly visible one. If they’re “bad,” then every company of over 5,000 employees is “bad.”
I don’t “boycott” McDonald’s, nor do I boycott any company that others claim are corrupt, because I know a meager boycott against a global coroporation is futile. I choose make my opinions known in more tangible ways, like making my feelings known through the Internet and other mediums. I disagree with Adbusters in the idea that “…for most of us, the clear symbols of American culture gone wrong are the corporate logos that make up [America].” Don’t blame the logos, when it’s a few people behind them that are responsible. To improve an aspect of society, we have to focus on the orgins of the problem, and not fixate on the imagery that represents it. Perhaps it’s easier to drop names and point fingers than it is to actually find solutions.
Please do not call, e-mail or other wise contact me for a copy of McLawsuit. I buried it, and it’s gone. It was nice while it lasted, though.
